Being a private person, I don't tend to randomly share thoughts or emotions. I'm trying to get better about that, but rare are the things I'm willing to show the entire world.
Most of my entries are friends only, so if you only see inane quizes, that is why.

Policy on friending:
You can feel free to friend me (no need to ask). If I read your journal and think we have stuff in common, I'll add you as a friend back. (Please note this can take a while, as I often forget to see who has friended me unless you also comment in my journal)
Leaving a comment here to explain how you came on my journal would be useful, particularly if we have met in Real Life.
If I don't friend you back, it is generally because I've looked at your journal and don't think you'd be interested in what I normally write about or don't feel comfortable sharing it with you. This is more a reflection of my comfort levels with people, as I am rather introverted.
If I've added you as a friend and you are wondering why, it is probably because I found you through a friend of a friend type thing and thought either: a) We had enough interests in common to make it worthwhile, b) I read your journal and thought it was interesting.
